WEEK 46: April 29, 2019 "Best decision of my life!"

Train tracks. PSA DID NOT DIE TAKING PICS ON THE TRAIN TRACKS!!!
(PSA = Public Service Announcement)
Êlo!!!

This week was miraculous because we had our first official sacrament meeting in Capão do Leão!!! Guys. I am sorry to get like over-excited but THIS IS THE TRUE CHURCH!!!! The meeting had 24 people in a small garage (gotta admit I felt like Steve Jobs) but the Spirit was SO STRONG. And the best part was that it was the same spirit that I feel in the chapel. The investigator that I was sitting with leaned over to me at the end and said, "wow. I have never visited a church that I feel such peace." It was an amazing meeting. I am so grateful that I had the chance to be there. A small "gurizinha" from Utah doesn’t get a lot of chances to see the literal growth of the church. It is amazing that in a world that is becoming less and less Christian. The church is continually growing.

Speaking of miracles... GLADIS!! GENTE ESSA MULHER!!! (PEOPLE THAT WOMAN) She is our miracle right now. She went to the meeting yesterday and LOVED IT!! She is the woman who had the dream about the sacrament. Guys. she is a miracle! Her spirit is so strong and she is reading the Book of Mormon. She said she was looking through and just HAPPENED to find the scripture "Helaman 5:12" which spoke to her and told her this was the path.

Helaman 5:12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

She is our biggest miracle right now. But we had a few funny moments this week.

We visited Francielle. We got there and asked if she said the prayer about if she needed to be baptized and she said, "yes. My baptism is on the 11th right? I will be there." Our hearts raced and I said, "You just need to visit the church. To know what we believe before you are baptized. Will you be able to go with us on Sunday?" And she said, "This Sunday no; I have a meeting with my other church." And in my mind, "ok.... back up.... let’s go back to the beginning.... Joseph Smith... one true church.... authority..... you said you got an answer...."  After the lesson me and my comp just laughed.

I love my mission. And I am so grateful for everything that I am learning here. It has been the best decision of my life. I love this church and I love Jesus Christ.

This week I want to challenge you all to read Psalms 91. This is the addiction of Brazilian Christians. I had never read it until I got on the mission. But I actually find a lot of comfort. There is a huge reason that Brazilians all have it pinned up on their walls.

I love you all!! CONTINUE ASSIM!!!!

Com amor,
Sister Hammond

Part of Psalms 91
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Rain on the road. Rain on her face. Rain makes the road such a dangerous place. #yesistillliketheater

What were the best and worst of your week?
Best was 2 things. One was a meeting all about Star Wars because my stake president loves me. And the other was the opening of the group in Capão do Leão!!!

The worst was Sister Alves is just having a lot of troubles. So that’s rough sometimes.
me and a wall because its a cool wall and me and the wall are friends. Also notice: This week I switched my plaquette to the other side because i had to switch what side i was carrying my bag and it was a whole ordeal because my shoulders was staying weird and so i feel strange with my plaquette on the other side.
"What should we name our restaurant?"
"Hmmmm. I don't know. English is a cool language. Maybe we can find a cool English word. Like tiger or something."
" OR CONTAINER"
"perfect dude. Pèrfect."

  1. Becca,
Hearing from you is contagious excitement. Thanks for your stories and insights. I can see from your pictures that you are enjoying your mission. Have a great week. All is well here. Grandma and me went to aunt Lisa’s home last week. It’s always fun with that crazy bunch. Everyone is growing up way too fast.
