WEEK 43: April 8, 2019 "The book is on the table."

My new comp at my new area!!!
I ran into my old companions at transfers!!!

HELLO AMIGOS E PARENTES!!!!!

This week was crazy in my new area! This is a way small town that is just all dirt roads and doesn't have a single bank or market. I got here last Monday and then Tuesday we got to work super fast!!! My new comp is Sister Alves. She is from São Paulo and is 33 years old! (a living testament that it is never too late to serve the Lord.) We get along great together so I am very grateful! She is darling.

This week we got to invite EVERYONE to General Conference. Everyone on the street, knocking on doors, members, recent converts, everyone. And the biggest blessing was that MY excitement grew a ton.

The other huge blessing was that we FOUND PEOPLE TO TEACH!!!! We opened this area so we didn't have anyone that was being taught. But we walked the streets, knocked on doors, everyone and we saw MIRACLES! People let us in, were excited about us and the church, and I felt my nerves for this transfer melt away.

I also strengthened my testimony that the spirit is guiding this work. I felt the
Spirit really guiding my words this week. We didn't have a huge giant miracle fall out of a tree this week; but, we felt the Spirit guiding us and really testifying through us.

The other miracle was that our bishop heard that one of the other two sisters in the area would be an American straight from the CTM. He decided to help us out and set up a room for us to watch the conference in ENGLISH!!!! It was such a blessing. And what a maravilhosa conferência!!! GENTE it was inspired. I felt my testimony growing really strong.
ENGLISH VIP

So that was my week!!!

My challenge for you guys is to read the talk from Elder Uchtdorf. I felt really inspired by that talk. I remember when I was at home, I always thought about missionary work like it was something impossible in Utah. I got really annoyed with all the invites to do missionary work. But I am here, and I have started realizing that there is work to be done in all places. Utah, Colorado, Brazil, everywhere has people who just waiting for an invitation.

I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today and that he is guiding this church. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I am 100% certain that living the gospel taught in this church will bring you closer to Christ.

I love you all!!!

Com amor,
Sister Hammond

Mom Questions:
Does Andrew need a Web Camera? (Most have microphones embedded so I don’t know what is best.  Seems like most of the LAN houses have computers with cameras already.)

  • Yes. He will be way better with a camera. And if it has a microphone inside but it plugs into a different part that works. He needs his own camera and earphones. Lots of Lan Houses don’t have cameras.

What were some of your favorite parts of conference?

  • I received a ton of answers to my questions. I wrote down 5 questions and color coded them and whenever i heard an answer i wrote it down in the color. And then I organized it after. I got 3 pages of just straight answers. I LOVED the talk from Elder Uchtdorf about missionary work.

Do you have any friends in your district?

  • Not really... everyone is new or i haven’t really met. Sister McGee who I live with, she is my friend.

Which music devise did we get for you?

  • It was a tiny MP3 player. Everyone is jealous. I would definitely get it for Andrew.

What was a highlight of your week?

  • Definitely conference. I got to watch it in ENGLISH which was such a blessing. I loved it so much.

What was the hardest part?

  • Nobody wanted to come to church. I spent all week testifying of the prophet and the conference and no one went. I got really frustrated because as Pres. Nelson said, "time is running out" and these people are not waking up to the need that they have to repent.

My new roommates! Sister Alves, Sister Pulice, and Sister McGee

Describe your area...

  • It is a tiny town. Exactly how i pictured Brazil to be. But it is a good little ward in a great stake. It is gonna be good. But we are trying to open a group again in a little town on the side. Exactly like I did in Cassino.
