WEEK 40: March 18, 2019 "IF YOU’RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT"
My american comp for a day!!! |
Wow this week was insane!! First off, can y’all believe 9 months have past since I came to this crazy country???? Minha nossa (oh my). Time flies when you are serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Cristo of Latter Day Saints.
So I will tell y’all first about the biggest miracle of the week. So a few weeks ago we were inviting everyone to our English class, giving out our awesome flyers. We decided to invite a few kids on the street. SO we gave them the flyer and they got really excited. A few weeks later we were walking to a meeting in the church and suddenly we heard screaming behind us, "moça moça" (young lady) We turned around and those same kids were there. They ran to us and said, "come meet our dad. Dad look!!! It’s that american we told you about!!! She speaks English because she is American!" So we talked to the dad and he decided he wanted to hear our message. So YESS!!! Then arrived the day of weekly planning. I like weekly planning (where we plan for the week) but it’s also the moment that you kinda see all the problems with the way you do missionary work. So we finished and I was feeling like 50% so I said a prayer and begged for a miracle. So that night we were walking by a house and we both stopped and remembered that that was where the kids lived. So we decided to see if the family was home. And they were!!!! And 3 more friends. And everyone was excited about baptism and accepted a date!!!! AND WE VISITED THE FAMILIES OF THE FRIENDS AND THEY ALSO WERE EXCITED!!!! AND THEY CAME TO THE ENGLISH CLASS!!! It was a huge miracle. I was super grateful. We found FAMILIES!!!
Baptism of the other Sisters!!! |
There was also a miracle with the other Sisters. They had the chance to baptize an investigator of 16 years!!! A mom of a member. It was a huge miracle. It was a super spiritual and special baptism.
Ok. So speaking of recent baptisms. Funny story. Clair LOVES BEING A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH. The other day we arrived at her house and she asked me to study the "Come Follow Me" manual as if I were her. She had a table full of all the scriptures. She had a hymn book and everything. She asked when she could give a talk in church. It was amazing. I love her to death!!!
WE found a cool bridge |
Otherwise the week was normal. I did get to be comps to SISTER MEEKS one day this week!!! (The other American.) It is very much... flashbacks to when I couldn’t speak Portuguese or understand what anyone was saying. I am so grateful for the gift of tongues.
My challenge for you is the same that I am going to do this week. On Sunday I want you to act as if the Savior was really walking beside you ALL DAY. Consciously. Act as if he were there. Study as if he were there. I promise you will have a very sacred experience.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
Com amor,
SIster Hammond
