WEEK 12: September 3, 2018 "By the mouth of two...OR THREE"
BEST LUNCH YET!!! I am the king of the burger king in Ala 2 |
Ola!!!! Eu esperanço que vocês estão muito bom!!
So this week was INSANE!!! SIster Lins found out that she was being transferred on tuesday and so we spent a lot of this week tying up loose ends and making sure I knew everyone and knew the area.
Family of Recent converts that is just AMAZING!!! I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! |
ME and this amazing recent convert. She is already preparing for a mission! I found this weird fish eye function on my camera and we were having a lot of fun. |
We had a baptism scheduled for Sunday but we ran into the girl (Agatha, age 15) on Saturday night and she was just in tears because her mom decided she wouldn't let her be baptized. That was a really disappointing moment for me because I love that investigator with my whole heart. She was so ready. We bought chocolate to make American Cookies and her mom wouldn't allow it. So we are going to work really closely with her mom this week. I have a lot of faith that everything will work out. Someday she will have the opportunity to be baptized, I know it, it might not be with me... but it will happen.
AMERICAN PIZZA FAMILY! |
We got to meet with the family who wanted to make us American Pizza! Guys. Pizza just isn't the same outside the US. It was good... but like... They don't believe in Pepperoni. But it was awesome! They promised to read the Book of Mormon as a family and pray together. They are very excited about the gospel and LOVE having Sisters teach them instead of Elders. We are still trying to work through some misconceptions.... because those Elders that taught them before were CRAZY. But they are such a strong family and have such a love for one another. I am excited to see where they progress!!
In other news! TRANSFERS!!! Today was TRANSFERS! Sister Lins was transferred, and I am in a trio now! (Hopefully a picture will be in next week's email.) Same area, different experience. One of my companions is from Kamas, Utah (Sister Galheg) and the other is from Rio de Janeiro (Sister Calvacas)! They are really awesome missionaries and have such a love of the work and a desire to serve! I am nervous because I have to show them the area and I know the people, and they don't. But I am excited for this new challenge!
So this week, I have been reading a lot in the Bible. I LOVE THE BIBLE! SERIOUSLY!! I am right now in Luke, after reading Matthew and Mark and it is amazing. Christ did so many amazing things during his short 3 year ministry. I want to invite all of you to crack open your Bible this week and read Luke 4-6. ALL of you can do this. Members, non-members, if you don't own a bible lds.org has one free online! Just really work to get to know Christ. Because through the ministry of Christ, we feel the love of God in our lives, and in the lives of the people he taught.
I LOVE YOU ALL SO DANG MUCH!!!
Com amor,
Sister Hammond
P.S. A couple of sisters in my mission got robbed! So a car drove up to the sisters and two men jumped out with guns and just took everything they had and then drove away. Plaquettes, everything. They stayed with us last night because they didn't have keys to their apartment. It was really sad. They showed up crying and without anything. And the robbers got into their apartment but I am not sure how. Its been a crazy couple days.
P.P.S. But wanna know something cool? So last night all of the sister missionaries were staying in our apartment because our apartment is right next to the mission office. So this one sister arrived and she was very upset. She leaves for her home on Wednesday and I asked what was wrong and she said she was planning on making banana bread for her last meal in Brazil before the Elders called and told her she had to come stay with us. Guess what I had in the oven? Banana bread! It was a small miracle!
You are so full of the spirit! May the Lord bless you to continue in joy.
